The game follows the story of Psaro, a tragic protagonist who finds himself cursed and unable to harm anything with monster blood. Consumed by a desire for revenge, Psaro sets out on a quest to become a Monster Wrangler in order to create an army for battle. His path leads him through the mesmerizing and ever-changing seasons of Nadiria, a realm filled with enchanting environments that include rivers of bubbling lava, mysterious ancient ruins, and soaring towers of cake.
