According to the developers, “Like a Dragon: Gaiden” will serve as continuation of the real-time combat that players grew accustomed to over the years. While “Like a Dragon 8” will maintain the turn-based RPG format, “Like a Dragon Gaiden” will feature an action-adventure style of play closer to what the “Yakuza” series is known for.
In a return to the action-adventure genre, Like a Dragon: Gaiden features the beat-’em-up style of combat the Like a Dragon series became known for. The game sheds light on Kazuma Kiryu’s perspective following the events of Yakuza 6: The Song of Life leading up to Like a Dragon 8. It will be about half the size of a regular Yakuza / Like a Dragon game.
